Curator

Gita Hudson is a curator who weaves diverse artistic expressions into cohesive narratives. She has a keen eye for emerging talents and a deep understanding of artistic movements in India. Through carefully selecting and juxtaposing, Gita creates exhibitions inviting viewers to explore visual arts' interconnectedness and multifaceted nature.

Independent Curator

As an independent curator, she has curated exhibitions for The Raza Foundation, the InKoCentre, the Artis collective, Peyoung chang Art, Korea, Whitefield Art Collective, Bangalore, VR Chennai Artv Collective, National level women folk and tribal art camp, Arakku Valley to name a few.

In 2022, she curated 20 Southern Region artists for 100 Yuva Sumbhava, a celebration of 100 years of S H Raza and his vision to nurture committed artists who have original and creative voices.

At DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum

For over 12 years, Gita Hudson curated and managed National and International art exhibitions, seminars, and conferences at Dakshinachitra Heritage Museum in Chennai. It included several large-scale retrospective exhibitions of renowned artists along with a publication of their life and work. She has also organised many art camps and showcased emerging artists at the Museum Galleries.

Retrospective Exhibitions

Retrospective Exhibitions are large-scale exhibitions which showcase the works of eminent artists. Gita has curated the Retrospective Exhibitions of artists, including PS Nandhan,  Venkatapathy, Jai Krishna Agarwal,  Alphonso Arul Doss, Veerasanthanam, TRP Mookiah, P Perumal. These exhibitions are accompanied by documentaries and art books that highlight their life and work.

Select Exhibitions

Gita curated many exhibitions in the Varija and Kadamabri Galleries - some of the other select exhibitions are solo exhibitions of Yusuf Arakkal, C. Douglas, Akhilesh, KG Narendra Babu, Athiveerapandian,  G. Raman, Suriyamoothy, Sreenivasulu, Jayakumar (JK), Sovan Kumar amongst others.

Programs and Seminars

Gita Hudson has curated many National and International Seminars. These programs typically span over a weekend and would see performances, talks, discussions, workshops, stalls etc., depending on the theme of each of these Programs/Seminars. Some of them include Maker and Meaning, Vaanam -  Dalit fest, Thiru Ther - Temple car makers Kalamkari Then and Now
